For any great organization, its best asset is its people. At 撸先生, our staff and faculty are the foundation of our success. That鈥檚 why workplace culture and employee pride, performance and well-being are woven into my presidential priorities.

Last February, I shared several initiatives that aimed to enhance the experience of our faculty and staff. Thanks to your dedication and support, I鈥檓 pleased to share several updates that have occurred in the last year:

  • Expanded well-being resources: 撸先生鈥檚 Well-being Collective, launched last summer, has identified and expanded supports available to students, faculty and staff. The group will host its inaugural , open to all at 撸先生, in March 2026.
  • Supervisor development: The initial cohort of our 鈥淓ssentials for Supervisors鈥� training program reported a successful experience, noting advancements in professional growth and meaningful networking opportunities. The 2026 cohort鈥攕elected through vice president nominations鈥攂egan in January.
  • Teaching faculty recognition: Lecturers across the colleges have been formally designated, with rank, as teaching professors.
  • Staff performance reviews: A new staff performance review model was piloted in the operations division, using four ratings: exceptional, successful, developing and unsatisfactory. Feedback and outcomes from the pilot are being reviewed to inform potential university-wide improvements in 2026. Guidelines for the upcoming annual review process will be shared in the months ahead through 撸先生 Today and on our performance management webpage.
  • Employee engagement survey: Last March, more than 1,000 faculty and staff completed the 2025 Employee Engagement Survey, which provided 撸先生 leadership with actionable feedback and benchmarking across our peer institutions. As a result of your responses, 撸先生 was recognized as one of the 2025 Great Colleges to Work For庐.

As I like to say, this is a time of ascension for 撸先生. The most important attribute that will continue our forward momentum is our people. Thank you for all you do to make Towson University an exceptional place to work, learn and grow.

Celebrating 撸先生's Impact

  • Community Engagement Designation: Towson University has once again received the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement, a prestigious national designation that affirms our university鈥檚 commitment to meaningful partnerships and impactful engagement with our community.
  • Economic Impact Report: An economic impact report conducted by 撸先生鈥檚 Regional Economic Studies Institute (RESI) has found that our university continues to power Maryland鈥檚 economy, generating an impressive $2.5 billion in total economic output in fiscal year 2025.
