Biography

Lindsey Bauer (she/they) is a dance artist, teacher-leader and arts education advocate. Lindsey recently joined the faculty at Towson University in the Master of Arts in Dance Education program and currently teaches in the undergraduate program as well. A teacher leader in the Connected Arts Network, Lindsey co-leads a professional learning community whereby participants build their capacity to embrace and integrate standards-based social emotional learning which centers around identity, skills, intellect, criticality and JOY. Lindsey works as a PLC manager of the Shirley Hall Bass Legacy Project鈥檚 National Performing Arts Initiative with the Ministry of Education in the Bahamas. The Legacy Project is an organization who preserves the legacy of legendary performer, Shirley Hall Bass, and is committed to strengthening the connections within in the African Diaspora through equitable and accessible performing arts education and programming in the Bahamas, Chicago and beyond.

Lindsey is co-author of the online course 鈥淕ender Inclusivity in the Dance Classroom鈥� published by Human Kinetics (2024) and teaches in the National Dance Education Organization鈥檚 Online Professional Development Institute. Lindsey has presented research in dance education and gender inclusivity at Towson University, Central Connecticut State University, National Dance Education conferences: Seattle, Denver, Atlanta and the New York State Dance Education Association Conference.

Lindsey is the co-artistic director of Elm City Dance Collective, leading the organization in providing dance experiences in the community of New Haven, Connecticut and beyond. Some partnerships include working with the New Haven Pride Center, Mystic Aquarium, CT Capoeira and Dance Center, Yale University, the Shubert Theater and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. Lindsey has performed for and with artists Kellie Ann Lynch, 脌d茅j贸ke 脌d茅ronke T煤gb铆y茅l茅, Luis Antonio, Mestre Efraim Silva, Cai Ying, Phoebe Hui, Lee Sher and Saar Harari, Olushola Cole and Rachel Bernsen.

Lindsey has a background in K-12 dance education, working as the lead dance teacher at Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School until 2024, teaching technique and choreography, serving on leadership committees, production teams and as the advisor for the National Honor Society for the Dance Arts. Lindsey has worked in arts curricular development for Yale China鈥檚 Brilliant Boba: Amplifying Asian Voices, New Haven Public Schools, Waterbury Public Schools and the Palace Theater.

Lindsey has a BFA from Towson University, MFA from Arizona State University, and a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. Ensuring that all students and participants feel welcome in dance experiences is most important in Lindsey鈥檚 practice.
